All countries and regions around the world have carried out large-scale electric vehicle R&D and production，so international standards and regulations play an important role in normalizing the electric vehicle product quality，promoting global technical exchanges and ensuring global communication. Based on the vast experience accumulated in the field of electric vehicle industrialization，our country has actively participated in the formulation of international standards and regulations. Firstly，this paper introduces the general situation of major national international standards and regulations such as American ANSI，German DIN and Japanese JIS；Secondly，this paper analyzes the latest developments of ISO and IEC in the international standards of electric vehicles in terms of organizational structure，standard composition and ongoing standards. At the same time，this paper introduces the transformation relationship between Chinese standards and international standards and the role of China in the process of international standards formulation；Thirdly，this paper details the rules for international regulations under WP.29 as well as China’s task of preparing international regulations in three informal working groups of electric vehicle safety（EVS-GTR），electric vehicle and environment（EVE-GTR）and fuel cell electric vehicle（UN GTR13）under the framework of the 1998 Agreement.
