For most American women, motherhood is a very important experience. Working in the family and community of mothers has also shaped the lives of almost all Americans. However, American textbooks and university courses generally rarely discuss the meaning of motherhood, the role of a mother, or the life of a mother. It was not until the 1980s and 1990s that historians gradually separated mother roles and began to do systematic and extensive research on mother role history. This article attempts to start from the feminist analysis and theory of the role of mothers, to observe the historical research on the role of mothers in the United States in the past 30 years, the development and characteristics of research influenced by feminism. Undoubtedly, each society has its own historical and cultural characteristics. We must start with our own history to understand the development of the definition of our mother role, as well as the variables and history of mother role experience and ideological construction.
