This article took cities along the middle reaches of the Changjiang River as research objects，explored the distinctive practices and beneficial experiences of cities in promoting green development，and summarized experiences for further promoting the green development of cities along the middle reaches of the Changjiang River. The article summarized the achievements of green development in cities along the middle reaches of the Changjiang River from five aspects：economic growth and economic development level，industrial transformation and upgrading，energy saving and emission reduction，ecological environment quality，and characteristics of ecological civilization construction. Five cities were classified as four types：high-level government-driven，resource-based city transformation and development-oriented，pilot pilot-driven，and key area breakthrough-driven，and their respective unique practices and experiences are summarized by comparison. It also summarized the common experiences and characteristics of the green development of the five cities，and finally gives inspiration and suggestions for promoting green development of cities along the middle reaches of the Changjiang River.
