This paper discusses the issue of public participation in urban construction. Through the documents collection，questionnaires issuing，field interviews and symposium，etc.，we studied the status of public participation in Guangzhou’s urban construction，existing problems and reasons. Then，we propose some suggestions to solve the problems from the perspectives of solving the thinking problems，improving the laws，regulations，and various concrete mechanisms，performance evaluation，financial supporting，etc.
