In the 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China，urban and rural family relations in Anhui Province have been undergoing profound changes. Under the combined influence of national policies，population mobility，aging and changes in reproduction mentality，family structure and size of Anhui have shown the following characteristics：family size miniaturization，family structure simplification；popularization of nuclear families，and diversification of non-traditional families；the speed of changes in urban and rural family structure and scale is ‘seeking individuality in commonality’；generational hierarchy is reduced，and the relationship between generations is simplified. These characteristics have profoundly affected the change and development of family relations，mainly reflected by the changes in the marital relationship，parent-child relationship，and even the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law，specifically：the position of female characters in the family is constantly improving，and the harmony and stability marital relationship is still the mainstream of the society；parent-child relationship has become the focus of the family，and the function of family pension is gradually weakened；the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law is coordinated，with a prominent role for daughter-in-law in the family. To establish a new type of intimate family relationship，Anhui Province needs to make efforts in the construction of community family support networks and the cultivation of unique family culture.
