The development of information technology promotes globalization and intensifies the connectivity among cities. Cities’ ability in producing，allocating and agglomerating economic，political，and social resources globally largely determines their potentiality in development. As an important gateway city and national central city in South China，Guangzhou is well-developed on global connection of aero and ocean transportation，international trading，and human capital. In 2019，The Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area（Greater Bay Area in short）was released，which makes the construction of the Greater Bay Area become national strategy and brings new opportunities for Guangzhou to improve its global connectivity. In the coming future，Guangzhou should proceed from its position in the Greater Bay Area and further strengthen its advantages on global connection by intensifying its infrastructure，trading，and cultural connection with other cities in the area. By cooperating with Hong Kong and Macao，Guangzhou could develop into a key hub in global trading，transportation，international exchange and financial network，and offset its weakness in global political and social connections. Guangzhou’s increasing global connection will effectively fuel its strategy of international metropolitan development.
