This article combines the experience of the transformation and development of the port and shipping industry in typical cities both at home and abroad，analyzing the development status and existing problems of the port and shipping industry in downtown Guangzhou. On this basis，the article raises suggestions on transformation and development of the port and shipping industry in urban area of Guangzhou，including the detailed planning of the industry，the promotion of headquarters economy and modern service industry area construction，the development of shipping financing and trade，the building of a world-class water leisure tourism brand，the construction of a fast，convenient and efficient urban waterway，the promotion of the green，smart port shipping and personnel training，so as to help promote the effective integration and construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and Guangzhou International Shipping Hub.
