To enhance the quality of life and to provide a sustainable transportation system are the major goals of the transportation policy of the Macau SAR.Although the financial tsunami in 2009 has its effects on travel demand, especially the seemingly ever-increasing demand for travel has signs of slowing down, the pace of planning and development of transportation infrastructure has not been affected,in fact there were a number of transportation infrastructure projects announced within 2009.In this paper,a comprehensive review of such development will be given, which includes the light rapid transit 2009 construction plan and future phases,as well as the development and plans on the road and public transportation. The new regional role of Macau and the effects on transportation infrastructure development will also be an emphasis of discussion.
