This paper presents the key facts，position，benefits and leading areas of Tianjin’s medical device industry，as well as major challenges the industry is now facing. In order to drive innovation and grow on a larger scale，the industry will accelerate its product restructuring to align with China’s strategy to boost coordinated development in regions of Beijing，Tianjin and Hebei Province. This paper also indicates that the industry’s mission is to drive growth at its high end over the next three years by bringing closely together the industry，academia，research and application，and that its first priority is to gain an edge in leading areas and develop talents.
