In 2018，amidst a complex international context，Chinese companies continued to become increasingly influential in the field of global investment，accounting for more than 10% of global FDI flows for three consecutive years. China remains a leading source and destination of foreign investment. Based on analysis of the current global situation and Chinese enterprises’ overseas investment，this report summarizes five major challenges encountered by globalizing Chinese enterprises and puts forward suggestions：1）Facing uncertainty overseas，it is recommended that governments，companies and third-party service providers work together to better manage foreign investment risks and to explore investment opportunities in emerging markets in Asia，Africa and Latin America；2）Given the tightening of foreign investment reviews in Europe and the US，it is suggested that Chinese companies strengthen investment in high-tech fields by exploring new spaces for investment and setting up overseas R & D centers to connect with global cutting-edge technologies；3）In the face of sustainability issues related to the Belt and Road，the multilateral development of the BRI should be strengthened by encouraging SMEs to participate and giving play to the role of market in resource allocation；4）In light of development bottlenecks in overseas economic and trade cooperation zones，it is suggested to promote the transformation and upgrading of overseas economic and trade cooperation zones，forming complete industrial chains and improving long-term inter-governmental coordination mechanisms；5）Given trade frictions between China and the US，suggestions are put forward to improve accounting methods for Sino-US trade and maintain multilateral trade mechanisms.
