In 2018，Guigang’s economy pursued progress while securing stability. During the process，Guigang strengthened the alignment of plans with those of other cities，reinforced connectivity，accelerated the replacement of old growth drivers by new growth drivers，and improved the landscape in opening-up and cooperation，actively advancing the development of the Pearl River-Xijiang River Economic Belt. However，Guigang is also confronted with problems such as insufficient policy support，heavy pressure of promoting project construction，the urgent need to improve industrial structure for the industries with small industrial aggregation，and weak industrial carrying capacity due to the low-level development of industrial parks. Guigang will endeavor to build three-dimensional combined transport hub facing ASEAN and serving Guangdong，Hongkong and Macao，emerging industrial bases in the basin of Xijiang River，large area modern logistic bases，“Selenium Harbor of China” agricultural production bases，regional tourism distributing bases，information centers catering to ASEAN and serving the southwest and central south of China as to better advance the development of the Pearl River-Xijiang River Economic Belt.
