China is advancing the pilot project of “zero waste city” and some cities are also vigorously promoting waste sorting. However，both are facing a series of difficulties and challenges. Waste governance has become an important part of urban sustainable development. As a global livable city，Vancouver introduced the “Zero Waste 2040” plan in May 2018，setting out the goal and implementation direction of achieving zero solid waste by 2040. This article introduced main content of the plan，and put forward some implications for China.
