This report fully reveals the fundamental state of the public satisfactoriness index for basic public services in 38 major cities in China through systematic assessment and horizontal comparative study，in accordance with the evaluation index system of local government’s public service capability. Moreover，a comparative analysis based on the assessment of the situation about the degree of public satisfaction with basic public services in different types of cities and different criteria is also included. From the overall，the average degree of public satisfaction with public services in Western cities is the highest，which is followed by the eastern cities，and that in the central cities is the lowest. The average level of public satisfactoriness with public services in cities specifically designated in the state plan is the highest among four types of cities，while the average level of public satisfactoriness with public services in four special economic zones takes the second place. The overall degree of public satisfaction with public services in the municipalities and provincial capitals are relatively low.
