In order to portray an objective picture of the status quo of the development of digital competitiveness in major cities globally，the research team develops an indicator system for urban digital competitiveness index from five dimensions：digital innovation competitiveness，digital economy competitiveness，digital governance competitiveness，digital service competitiveness，and digital security competitiveness. It selects 15 major cities to quantitatively evaluate and analyze their digital competitiveness. As indicated by the analysis results，the increase in a city’s digital competitiveness is in positive correlation with the improvement in its economic conditions. Seen from the global perspective，the United States is in a dominant position，while the latecomers of emerging economies in Asia are catching up in terms of digital innovation and economy.
