With the continuous improvement of China’s comprehensive national strength and international influence，as well as the promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative and international capacity cooperation，more and more Chinese citizens have gone abroad，and the number of overseas Chinese citizens and Chinese-funded institutions are increasing，which has accelerated the formation of overseas China. The total number of safety accidents of overseas Chinese citizens continues to increase，but the types of major overseas security risks facing them remain unchanged under the background of uncertainty and instability in the current international situation. In this context，social security，traffic safety，and water-related accidents will continue remain the major types of overseas Chinese citizens. However，violation of laws and regulations，encountering telecom fraud and accidents have shown a relatively obvious growth trend. All these factors have increased the difficulty for Chinese embassies and consulates also the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China to deal with consular protection. Therefore，the relevant state departments should speed up the legalization of consular protection，deepen cooperation with relevant departments，and strengthen the publicity of consular protection knowledge to the public. In the meantime，Chinese citizens also need to improve their own cultivation.
