Electric power consumption is closely related to economic growth. Studying the trend of power economic relations is helpful for in-depth analysis of economic operation and electric power consumption，and scientific guidance of electric power industry development planning. Since the new normal of economic development，the fluctuation of power consumption growth in Henan has increased significantly，and the growth gap between power demand and economic growth has also gradually widened. This article analyzes the reasons for the “divergence” between Henan’s power and economic growth in the new period，points out that the extreme weather and industrial restructuring are the main reasons for the recent electricity growth fluctuation，and the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries has led to and increased the difference between the growth rate of electricity consumption and economy. In the future，with the high-quality development of economy and energy，it will become normal for Henan’s electricity consumption to maintain a medium-to-low growth rate that is lower than GDP growth rate.
