Ecological protection and sustainable development are important issues in the current social and economic development. Since the 18th National Congress，ecological civilization construction has been incorporated into the overall layout of the five-in-one. Achieving a resource-friendly development approach is a new goal of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Strengthening forest protection，preserving existing forest resources，restoring forest ecology，and developing ecological forestry are important elements in practicing Xi Jinping’s ecological civilization. I have combed the achievements of ecological civilization construction and forestry development and thought about it. The comprehensive evaluation model of ecological forestry development and the ecological forestry development index were constructed. According to the index，the national forestry development index increased steadily，from 31.57 in 2011 to 51.63 in 2017，with an average annual growth rate of 8.5%. Then it analyzes the challenges faced by ecological civilization construction and forestry development. Finally，it proposes ecological forestry development from the aspects of strengthening system construction，technology application，talent cultivation and deepening reform.
