China’s private education has developed rapidly along with the deepening of China’s reform and opening up. The number of private high schools has also increased significantly，which has made significant contributions to improving high school enrollment and cultivating high-quality talents. Shantou Chaoyang Experimental School is a typical representative of private schools in Guangdong Province. Its scientific management and the teaching philosophy of competency-based instructing system are recognized by local students and parents. This paper takes Chaoyang Experimental School as an example to explore the challenges and development opportunities faced by private high schools in the social transformation stage. Private ordinary high schools must take the scientific management concept and ideas as the helmsman，highlighting the characteristics and building the brand as the direction，taking the teaching and research level as the driving force，and stabilizing the teaching team as the guarantee to accurately grasp the pulse of the times and obtain longer-term development.
