The construction of a national central city in Zhengzhou requires a distinct urban theme culture. Special resources should be extracted on the basis of respecting the natural environment，history and culture，regional characteristics and current development of Zhengzhou before the theme of an urban culture can be established. It is suggested that “Between Heaven and Earth·the Origin of the Chinese Civilization·the Soul of the Yellow River” should be made the theme of Zhengzhou’s urban culture and that the cultural construction of the national central city should be carried out with a focus on this theme. After the establishment of an urban theme culture，there are also a series of work to be done，such as cultivating the function of the urban theme culture and building the visual symbols and the communication system of the urban theme culture. The construction of Zhengzhou’s urban theme culture is a complex and systematic project，which requires joint efforts from government departments，all citizens and people outside Zhengzhou who care about the city.
