Macau has pioneered a 15-year free education policy in the Asia-Pacific region since the 2007/2008 school year，which is one of the most important educational achievements of since its Reunification with China. The policy is based on the 10-year free education prior to Reunification，which was widely discussed in the course of the review and revision of Macau’s education system. This policy is carried out in conjunction with other policies such as increasing investment in education funds and implementing small-class teaching. For more than a decade，the result have been highly recognised by the public and is reflected by the students’ excellent performance in varies international comparative studies. This policy not only effectively reduces the financial burden on parents，so that the next generation of the Special Administrative Region can fully enjoy the right to education，but also enhances the educational expectations of the Macau residents，providing a strong guarantee for the development of quality education in Macau，and fundamentally strengthens the overall cultural and knowledge foundation needed for the long-term development of society.
