With the promulgation of the Development Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area，the construction of smart cities in the Great Bay Area has entered a brand-new era. Plans to build smart cities or related top-level policies have been introduced by local governments，while cooperation with facilities and services providers has been strengthened. Many cities in the Great Bay Area have formulated and implemented a new three-year plan for smart cities（2018 to 2020）. On the basis of the past，local governments have applied new technologies，expanded new applications，enhanced new functions，strengthened new collaborations in interconnection，and promoted the construction of an upgraded version of a smart city cluster in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area. Probing into the future of the construction and development of the smart city cluster in the Great Bay Area，the hardware infrastructure will be further upgraded，and the cooperation mechanism for consulting，sharing，and co-constructing will continue to be strengthened.
