The Research Center for Yangtze River Economic Belt Development of the Counselors’ Office of the State Council has carried out relevant research. Zhou Yong，Counselor of Hubei Provincial People’s Government，thoroughly examined the important position of Hunan，Hubei，Anhui，and Jiangxi in the national strategy of farmland protection and food security，analyzed the main problems in farmland resource utilization and food safety production，and put forward countermeasures and suggestions for improving farmland quality and ensuring food security in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River，which will provide decision-making support for the protection of cultivated land and the coordinated development of population，resources，environment and economy in the Yangtze River Basin.
