With the progress of the times and the rapid development of big data networks，China has realized the transformation from information age into big data age，and the application of big data has penetrated into all walks of life in society. Smart City is a new urban form that originated in the information age and that gradually evolved with the development of the big data age. As one of the first batch of model cities developing safe and international smart city construction，Hefei is actively exploring the application of big data in urban management. This paper introduces the current status of big data development as well as the smart safe city construction and operation in Hefei. The authors expound upon the application of big data and make suggestions in the development of a safe Smart City in Hefei.
