Although the “Yellow Vests Movement” originated from the French people’s protest against fuel tax increase，the appeal of popular protests pointed to the long-standing problems in French society，such as the decline of purchasing power of the middle and popular classes，the break between ordinary people and elites，as well as the current representative democracy system，etc. Behind these accused issues is a France that needs to deepen structural reforms，involving many domains，not only economic development and political systems，but also labour market and social welfare. Although the “Yellow Vests Movement” tide is fading away，its social background is likely to brew some large-scale social crises at any time.
