The development phase of philanthropy is a significant sign of a country or a city's growth. Cities are places where economic or social activities and wealth assemble. Therefore, cities are playing a predominant role in the development of philanthropy. The development of philanthropy in Chinese cities started accelerating significantly in 1990s. The amount of money donation, material donation and charitable organization all increase at a remarkable rate. However, the disparity between our philanthropy standard and that of western countries is still considerably wide. The philanthropy in China nowadays was mainly predominated by government lacking the participation of the public, the standard operation regulations and the public credibility. In future, the development mode of modern city philanthropy with Chinese characteristics should be constructed through a variety of ways. <<
