To understand the current condition of the policies and strategies for private hospitals’ development，find the weakness and offer effective policy recommendations. Method：By literature review，the research had a study on policies to promoting private hospitals’ development. And according to data from authoritative institutions，the research had an analysis of policy implementation. Result：Policy implementation in Jiangsu Province has had a positive effect on private hospital’s development，in terms of the number of private hospitals，numbers of bed in hospitals，service volume and so on. But problems still exist，such as unfair policy environment，ambiguous orientation of private hospitals and poor policy implementation. Conclusion：Government in Jiangsu Province should further encourage the development of private hospitals，optimize the support policy to private hospitals and strengthen the policy implementation. Meanwhile，market supervision should be reinforced for better development of both private hospitals and medical market.
