The twelfth five-year plan period is the critical period of the well-off society, and gradually raising the proportion of urban middle income class has an important significance to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor, comprehensively improve people's life and promote economic stability and healthy development. This paper defines the concept and measurement standards of the urban middle income class, and calculates the scale and the future development trend of the urban middle income class, and analyzes its role and contribution during the social economy development, and puts forward some approaches to expand and cultivate the urban middle income class. <<
