Adhering to the leadership of the Communist Party of China is the most essential feature of socialist education with Chinese characteristics. As an important part of higher education in China，private colleges and universities bear the important task of training socialist builders and successors，just as public ones. Due to their particularity of the running model，the leading system，the operating mechanism and so on，the Party construction work in private colleges and universities faces some new situations and problems. Starting with the present situation of the Party construction in private colleges and universities，this paper also points out their achievements in Party construction work. Besides，it points out the prominent problems existing in their party construction work，makes an in-depth analysis of these problems，and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions.
