Based on the seriousness and complexity of China’s food safety situation at present，the state has decided to promote and implement national food safety demonstration city-building activities throughout the country since 2014. After on-the-spot investigation，the present state-level food safety demonstration city has obtained certain effect in the promotion and the establishment process，but still has some outstanding problems. The analysis of the status quo and existing problems of the national food safety demonstration cities which have been successfully established shows that the national push for the construction of food safety demonstration cities （districts） has a strong driving and demonstration significance，and more cities （districts） join in this trend and play an important role in ensuring food safety. At the same time，there are still some problems in the established demonstration city （district），such as imperfect system，backward supervision technology，weak responsibility consciousness of enterprise main body，little publicity，insufficient investment and lack of food safety social co-governance，which need to be perfected in the further reform.
