There is a renewed international focus upon the role played by clusters in the development of the Cultural and Creative Industries. In the UK,the Arts and Humanities Research Council(AHRC)has announced an ambitious agenda to promote university-industry consortia to promote innovative R&D through creative clusters(AHRC 2017). Universities in Australia, and around the world, are developing creative enterprise centres and building links with digital entrepreneurs to enhance the engagement and impact metrics for academic research. Similarly,an increasing number of universities have introduced Creative Industries degree programs which feature industry links within the curriculum. This paper will discuss developments in the UK and Australia, with particular reference to the ways in which creative industries degree programs are being reconfigured to respond to the challenges of digital innovation and the digital economy.
