<<On a global scale,nuclear energy produces nearly one-third of the world’s low-carbon electricity,providing the world with clean,safe,and reliable energy supply. Nuclear energy is also an important part of China’s clean,low-carbon,safe and efficient modern energy system,which is an important choice for actively coping with climate change,fulfilling emission reduction commitments and realizing green and low-carbon development,an important kinetic energy driving scientific and technological progress,industrial upgrading and promoting economic development,and also an important starting point for implementing the “Belt and Road Initiative” and expanding international capacity cooperation. The “China Nuclear Energy Development Report 2019” systematically describes the basic situation and trends of international nuclear energy development in 2018;summarizes the main achievements of China’s nuclear energy development in 2018 from aspects of nuclear power production and operation,nuclear power engineering construction,nuclear energy technology research and development,nuclear fuel cycle industry,nuclear power equipment manufacturing,nuclear energy industry management and security assurance,internationalnuclear energy cooperation;and makes analysis and prospect of the development situation of nuclear energy in China.
