In 2018，a total of 2，419 pieces of coverage related to China’s agriculture，rural areas and farmers were collected from the 104 media networks in 44 countries included in the monitoring programme，representing a year-on-year increase of 9.2 percent. The top 5 topic areas were agricultural trade，agricultural production and food security，veterinary service and animal health，agricultural cooperation，and dairy. A major focus among the foreign media was the progress made in the agricultural trade and cooperation between China and countries along the Silk Road driven by the Belt and Road initiative. The attention of the international community was also drawn to the restructuring of the Chinese government，further implementation of its rural revitalization strategy，and its efforts and achievements in poverty reduction.
