In 2018，news stories on agriculture，rural areas and farmers on the Chinese mainland carried by the 27 media networks based in Hongkong，Macao and Taiwan included in the monitoring programme dropped slightly from the previous year. The interest areas of the media in Hongkong，Macao and Taiwan were rather concentrated，with the top 3 areas—agricultural trade，veterinary service and animal disease outbreaks，and agricultural cooperation—accounting for as much as 56 percent of all agriculture-related coverage. The most reported agriculture-related foreign affairs were China’s trade dispute with the United States and its international agricultural cooperation activities under the Belt and Road framework，and the most reported domestic ones were government restructuring，rural revitalization，and African Swine Fever.
