In Chongqing municipality，the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy in 2018 effectively advanced all causes related to agriculture，rural areas，and farmers （collectively known as “Sannong”）. A total of 282，000 pieces of coverage of Sannong issues were collected，over half carried by online news media. Positive coverage focused on original rural revitalization practices identified as exemplary cases by the municipal government，quality development of modern specialty agriculture，marketing campaigns of local specialties such as Fuling pickles and Fengjie navel oranges，pilot projects on turning rural resources into capital assets，a shift in the approach to poverty alleviation to promoting the growth of characteristic industries，greater efforts on improving rural living environment，and the interventions to address non-point source pollution from farming. The public expressed concerns over the leakage of electrolyte from a manganese ore processing plan that contaminated farmland downstream.
