Combining machine retrieval and human analysis，there were over 2 million pieces of coverage relating to the quality and safety of agricultural products，including 928 valid samples. Analyses by type，tone，region，medium，time series and topic showed that public opinions in China on this topic remained stable in 2018. Handling of emergencies was proactive and effective and science communication efforts were more regular，which drove the notion of quality produce and green farming to people’s heart. Traditional and new media were competing for the power of agenda setting，while online We-Media were most affected by rumors. There were signs of increased risks related to public opinions on the quality and safety of certified agricultural products.
