Based on in-depth interviews and observations of 45‘leisure class’women，this paper studies their body presentation in daily life，the characteristics of their physical capital maintenance，practice and transformation，and illustrates how they metamorphose physical capital into social capital，material capital and cultural capital in different social situations. It has been found that the amount and importance of physical capital is directly proportional to economic status. Physical capital symbolizes their personal and family’s social capital and determines their status in the structure of gender power. This body capital construction process itself is a lens through which we can understand the consumption patterns，family relationship，and social stratification in contemporary China.
