Every year SSAP publishes a number of yearbooks on China’s social，political and rule of law development. These books provide a timely，empirically rich and analytically rigorous overview of the latest developments in China’s social and political conditions and the rule of law. In addition to broad trends，hot-button issues are also discussed. Researchers bring to bear a range to disciplinary perspectives and methodologies，including those from sociology，public policy studies，legal studies，and others. This chapter subjects 434 SSAP yearbooks on social，political and rule of law development in China published since 1998 to a comprehensive meta-analysis. The analysis covers four key issues：medium-to long-term development plan for this sub-category，strengthening inter-disciplinary research in these areas，achieving greater coherence within each volume among the different sections，and enlarging the role non-text content such as charts and figures plays in these reports. Suggestions for how to make these yearbooks more effective and useful are given.
