The survey has found that there are very serious problems of large-number classes in Dengzhou city Henan province. That phenomenon is representative in central regions of China. In the primary and secondary schools of Dengzhou city, class size of 70-80 students is very common, even existing "great class size" with more than 100 students, and the average class sizes of a key primary school is up to 133 students. Such phenomenon of large class sizes is mainly due to the rapid growth of population in counties and towns, increasingly strong motivation for school choice of parents, and the widening gap between urban and rural schools. The deeper reason is depressed rural education.
