Rural social service is related to rural development and stability，an im-portant task in the strategy of rural revitalization. Objective and accurate assessment of the current situation of rural social services is an important data basis for improving the level of social services for rural residents. Therefore，based on the data of the third national rural census，this paper constructs the rural social service development index and makes a comparative analysis of the development status of rural social services in six cities in China. The purpose is to find out the characteristics of Guangzhou rural social service development and put forward targeted suggestions. The results show that Guangzhou rural social service development index ranks the first among the six cities in China，with a good development status. However，there are also five problems，such as a small number of kindergartens in rural areas，insufficient number of clinics，and insufficient supply of public facilities for culture and sports. In view of the above problems，this paper puts forward five pieces of suggestions，aiming at improving the level of social services in rural Guangzhou.
