As a basic consumer industry related to people’s livelihood in the economic construction of Hainan Province，the catering industry has become a comprehensive livelihood industry developed vigorously by the provincial governments at all levels. On the basis of the data of the National Bureau of Statistics of China and Hainan Provincial Bureau of Statistics，this paper analyzes the market environment and development status of Hainan catering industry，analyzes the problems existing in the development process，and puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions for the future development according to the characteristics of Hainan catering resources and the general trend of market economy development.
