By the end of 2018，there were 42，282 social organizations in the Sichuan Provincial Civil Affairs Department，of which 3，959 organizations registered in the fields of agriculture and rural development. The specific work areas of rural social organizations cover education，financial loans，physical and mental health，disaster mitigation and relief，poverty alleviation and development and environmental conservation. Referring to the latest statistics of the China Rural Development Cooperation Network in 2018，the “List of Social Organizations and Funders in the Field of Rural Community Development”，45 institutions working in Sichuan Province are mainly small-scale institutions，and 35 of them are under 10 employees. There are only 10 institutions have more than 10 employees. There are 36 institutions with funds ranging from 0 to 100，000 and 9 with more than 1 million. The work area is concentrated in Chengdu and Ya’an，and the work targets include children，women，the elderly，young and middle-aged people，and two organizations serve cooperatives and voluntary organizations. In addition to this，there are a large number of self-organized organizations in Sichuan Province that have not registered. This paper focuses on the characteristics，work patterns and work results of social organizations that work in rural areas.
