<<The establishment of various types of development zones and the attraction of foreign direct investment are both based on the background of China’s reform and opening-up. Over the past 40 years of reform and opening-up,foreign direct investment in China, including Japan, has strongly promoted China’s economic development in terms of capital, technology, talent and management. As the “pioneer” and “window” of attracting foreign investment and opening up to the outside world, development zones play an important role in promoting regional economic development and expanding opening up. Taking Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA) as an example, this paper analyses the regional distribution characteristics of Japan’s direct investment in China and the status of Tianjin,as well as the main characteristics of Japan’s direct investment in TEDA.
