The South extension line of the central axis has important spatial significance in inheriting the historical context of the central axis，improving the spatial quality of the southern city and constructing a new urban spatial pattern of “two axes，multi-points and one district”. In the future development of Beijing，the planning and management of the south extension of the central axis and its urban space are of great strategic significance. This paper summarizes the current situation of protection，utilization and development of the South Extension Line of the Central Axis from four aspects：concept planning，cultural revival，ecological restoration and functional regeneration，and analyses the existing problems，and puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions for further deepening and promoting the future development of the South Extension Line of the Central Axis.
