In 2017，Hunan ranked the 2nd in the increase of the total culture and education consumption in urban and rural areas and the 2nd in the growth of per capita value.The Rankings of the status evaluation are as follows：In the lateral evaluation among various provinces，Hunan ranked the 1st in the 2017 annual status evaluation leaders；In vertical evaluation itself，Hunan ranked the 12th in the 1997-2017 status evaluation runners-up，as well as 8th，6th，4th and 3rd during the periods of 1997-2017，2002-2017，2007-2017 and 2012-2017 respectively.
