Based on the analysis of the current situation and development trend of the online video in China，particularly the features of market development in recent years，this paper describes and anticipates the developing trend of micro film and short video after taking both the opportunities and challenges in the growth of micro film and short video in the new era into full consideration. Moreover，with the constant advance of the strategy of “build a culturally advanced country”，micro film and short video，which play the role as important components of online audio-visual art in the new era，should also shoulder corresponding cultural mission and take the responsibility of enriching and prospering online audio-visual art on the premise of making valuable literary works when upholding correct values，thus contributing to the prosperous culture of socialism.
