With the implementation of “Going Out” strategy and the advancing of the Belt and Road Initiative，a growing number of Chinese citizens make overseas trips. Under the background of the complicated international situation and the intertwined security threats，safety accidents of overseas Chinese citizens demonstrate several characteristics，such as the increasing frequency，various category and distinct regional feature. Meanwhile，it also shows some developing trends. For instance，the enhancement of security risk，accended peril ratio and development of younger age. Taking above mentioned into consideration，some effective measures should be taken in order to fufill the mission of protecting people’s security and improve the capability of safeguarding overseas Chinese citizens’ lawful rights and interests. On the one hand，government should adopt different measures for different groups of people，establish and strengthen mechnish for communication and cooperation. On the other hand，overseas Chinese citizens themselves should attach great importance to related safety information and always be prepared for the journey. In this case，the pace of “going out” is not only fast，but also steady.
