The government，the academia，and various political powers in Russia celebrated the centennial of the February Revolution and of the October Revolution in 2017. The government commemorated the February Revolution，the October Revolution and other historical events as a whole—“the 1917 Russian Revolution”，in order to learn from the past，avoid social upheaval，and promote social solidarity. This official move accorded with the hope of the people and some intellectuals，reflecting a change in the evaluation of the October Revolution that was becoming more rational. Different political powers and the academia did not totally agree with the government in this aspect，and disputes still exist. By analyzing how interpretations of the historical events in Russia in 1917 agree and argue with each other，this article attempts to demonstrate why the October Revolution broke out and how it influenced the history of Russia and of the world in the 20^th century.
