There is a large body of literature on reflective practice and reflective learning in the field of social work.The importance of reflection in professional practice is widely recognized.However，there is lack of clarity about the concept of reflection and the interpretation of the relationship between reflection and social work practice.The purpose of this paper is to review and sorts out the connotation，theoretical development and characteristics of reflection in the field of social work.Exploring the three forms of reflection：action reflection，critical reflection，and reflexive reflection，this paper concludes that the connection between reflection and social work practice is achieved through three types of situations，including：profession-practice situation，social situation and life network situation.
