This paper analyzes the current situation of manufacturing industry in Heilongjiang Province firstly，and on this basis further elaborates the advantages of manufacturing industry in Heilongjiang Province：solid technology foundation，powerful competitiveness of key enterprises，privilege of more preferential policies and so on.The competitiveness and the capacity to the sustainable development of manufacturing industry in Heilongjiang Province are evaluated，the evaluating results show that the competitiveness of general equipment manufacturing industry，special equipment manufacturing industry，transportation equipment manufacturing industry，food manufacturing industry and petroleum processing，coking and nuclear fuel processing industry is relatively strong，and so is the comprehensive capacity of sustainable development.Finally，according to the development trend of global manufacturing industry，the future development directions of manufacturing industry in Heilongjiang Province are presented：green manufacturing，intelligent manufacturing，networked manufacturing and mass customization.
