After the contamination crisis caused by Zijin Mining Group Co.，Ltd. （Zijin） in southeast China’s Fujian Province，Mr. Wang Jing，the famous environmental jurist from Peking University appealed to China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection （MOEP） to bring a lawsuit against the company. Later，the Green Volunteer League of Chongqing （GVLC） appealed to the MOEP for reconsideration，adhering to the motion of a lawsuit. On Dec. 13，2010，the MOEP issued an official response to the GVLC’s application，turning it down on the ground that the GVLC has no interested relationship with Zijin. Why didn’t the MOEP sue Zijin？
